The Challenge

Music Midtown is one of Atlanta's premier music festivals, drawing over 50,000 attendees daily to Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta. The festival organizers needed a comprehensive sanitation plan that could handle massive crowd volumes, meet ADA requirements, and maintain hygiene standards throughout the 2-day event — all while working within the park's environmental guidelines.

Key challenges included:

• 50,000+ daily attendees across a 60-acre park footprint
• Multiple stages and vendor areas requiring distributed restroom access

• Peak temperatures in the mid-80s°F requiring heat mitigation

Our Assessment

Our team conducted a detailed site walkthrough of Piedmont Park three weeks before the festival. We mapped crowd flow patterns from the main entrance on 10th Street through the vendor midway, between the four performance stages, and toward the food court area near Lake Clara Meer. Key assessment findings:

• 5 high-traffic zones identified based on stage proximity and crowd density models
• 3 service access routes planned for pump trucks during the festival (overnight servicing)
• Ground protection — plywood staging required for all unit placements on park grass
• Shade mapping — positioned 80% of units under tree canopy to reduce heat buildup
• ADA routing — verified wheelchair-accessible paths to each ADA station

The Solution

We designed a 5-zone distribution plan with 75 total units:

Results
